I’m telling you a day in advance so you can work it into that busy schedule of yours: Tomorrow I’ll be selling books at the Bourbon Pop-Up Gift Shop at the Green Building from 5-8 p.m.
Basically, it’s going to be a whole lotta bourbon-themed arts and crafts, just in time for the holidays. There is no admission fee, and I hear there’s going to be a cocktail bar to put you in a better mood to buy. “The Bar Belle” book makes the perfect stocking stuffer for that stuffy aunt on your list.
Bourbon Pop-Up Gift Shop
Tuesday, Dec. 20
The Green Building, 732 E. Market St.
Here’s the Facebook event page.
I’m signing books with my friend Kevin Gibson on Thursday, April 7, at the Back Door from 6-8 p.m. Come on by and have a drink with us!
Kevin’s latest book is about 100 things you should do in Louisville before you die — and drinking with us is one of those things. Hopefully Rusty the Jerky Man will show up.
Babies love the Bar Belle!
Don’t worry. There’s still time to pick up my book for the kiddies before Christmas! I’ll be at the Flea Off Market’s Holiday Bazaar all frickin’ day on Saturday, Dec. 19, which will be held at the Executive Airplane Hanger at Bowman Field. It’s the same place they hold the Tailspin Beer Fest every year — you gotta enter on the Dutchmans Lane side.
I’ll be there from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. signing books and giving away free (liquid and non-liquid) gifts with every purchase. This is my last scheduled signing of the year … so run, don’t walk, to Bowman Field.
Bring me some cheese, because I’ll be guzzling the wine.
Tonight I’ll be out in the ‘burbs at the Springhurst Liquor Barn (near Tinseltown) with the ladies of Bourbon Women. I’ll be signing books while they’ll be sampling some fine Four Roses bourbon. I’m hoping they’ll be in the sharing spirit.
Liquor Barn? That’ll give me splinters!
Santa is a little hungover this year, so he’s asking that you all do the shopping for him. So I’m going to make it easy by just suggesting you get a copy of my book for everyone on your list.
Grandma? Bar Belle Book.
Uncle Cooter? Bar Belle Book.
Baby Jesus? Bar Belle Book.
See how easy that is? And just to make things even more personal and local, I’m holding some book signings this month so I can inscribe a personal message to your sponsor in each book! I know, I know. I’m too kind. But I’ve still got presents to give with each purchase, and I’ve still got tabs to pay off.
So my Bar Belle Book Tour continues … please come say hello and let’s talk about the day’s news (Saint West?) over a beer or two.
• Tuesday, Dec. 8: Spring Street Bar & Grill, 6-8 p.m.
• Thursday, Dec. 10: Liquor Barn Springhurst, 5:30-8 p.m.
• Saturday, Dec. 19: Flea Off (Indoor) Holiday Bazaar, noon-7 p.m.
I’m still waiting for Oprah to read my book, but in the meantime, “The Bar Belle Vol. 2” was just featured in Alcohol Professor‘s roundup of Boozy Books. Writer and site editor Amanda Schuster described it thusly:
Reason it’s a page turner: Havens’ own drunk texts of the week are sprinkled between essays. Warning: don’t read in public unless you don’t mind people staring at you as you break into uncontrollable laughter. Also, her quest to obtain the key to the city of Louisville is pure gold.
Boom! Next stop is the New York Times’ best-seller list, y’all!
I know you’ve started that Christmas list … and I just know you want Santa to stuff your stocking with “The Bar Belle Vol. 2.” Well, if you’re one of my devoted drinkers, then you already have your copy. But can’t you think of others out there who just HAVE TO HAVE A COPY? How thrilled would your Great Aunt Gertrude be with having my book as her main bathroom read? Doesn’t your sister Kirstie need more than 50 drunk texts of the week?
Well, you’re in luck — and that rhymes with fuck. I’ll be signing my books this every day this weekend! Here’s the schedule … please come say hello at at least offer me a swig from your flask.
